Good Timber was written by the American poet and short-story writer Douglas Malloch. In it, Douglas anticipates the future state of people with no goal in life, especially the ones who do not strive on a daily basis to reach a decent stature inward and outward. He figuratively compares between a tree’s bad timber with an idle silly person, then he compares a tree’s good timber with a patient and hardworking person. Patience and daily strife are what contributes in the making of a good essence no matter the hard circumstances.
