He has contributed extensively to research on tendon injuries and bone health, and is the co-author of the classic textbook Clinical Sports Medicine. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Sports Medicine, was a social media pioneer in sports medicine, and is the Scientific Director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research-Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis.
