In the deepest part of the human mind, there is a deeply ingrained idea: that loving means having no borders, no limits, and never saying “no.” From a young age, we learn that if we put up a barrier, if we mark our own space, we might lose affection, acceptance, or company. That is why, when our own essence says “stop here,” an internal alarm is activated, making us feel that taking care of ourselves is hurting the other person. And that’s where the strongest emotional conflict appears: the struggle between listening to yourself or maintaining a relationship to avoid creating problems.
