""Fierljeppen"" is a special Dutch sport. It happens in the city of Polsbroekerdam. People all over the Netherlands go there to watch it. In fierljeppen, people jump over a canal using a long pole. They try to go as far as they can. The sport started with farmers. They used to use poles to cross canals before cars and bikes existed. The first recorded game of fierljeppen was in 1767. Nowadays, about 600 people in the Netherlands play this sport.
