When people first moved to Nördlingen, Germany, they thought they lived in a volcanic crater. But the land was made by something else – an asteroid. About 15 million years ago, the asteroid hit the ground, and this created a big hole. The force of the impact turned rocks into a special stone called suevite, which has tiny diamonds inside. The people didn't know about the diamonds when they were building the town. It wasn't until scientists came in the 1960s that they found out. Now, Nördlingen is famous for buildings made from this stone. Many visitors come to learn about its unique history. This town generates a lot of conversation online, with many finding it interesting, and even "amazing".
