Sedona International City of Peace & The Awesome Difficult Work of Love with Margaret Joy Weaver

Did you know that Sedona is officially a city of Peace? Yes, it is and it’s thanks to Margaret Joy Weaver, a 25-year resident of Sedona. She, along with a few other locals who facilitated the process in 2012 made our town the 35th out of now more than 300 International Cities of Peace WORLDWIDE. The mission of this organization is to nurture, inspire and empower the community of Sedona to thrive and flourish while fostering a culture of peace. They celebrate courage, respect, compassion, connection, empathy, harmony, inner peace, and love.

This has been a passion of Margaret’s for years and she is one of the people who keeps the heart of Sedona alive with much to give those who live here and those who visit.  I’ve known Margaret through her many roles in Sedona from being a part of the Sedona International Film Festival to her current incarnation, pun intended, with the Sedona International City of Peace.

Something fabulous has manifested, again pun intended, which is truly a collaboration of love within this organization and that manifestation is the Sedona Arts for Peace Week with an entire week of events inspired by The Awesome Difficult Work of Love, an ensemble piece created by Adreinne Torf.

It’s a sweet conversation with lots of tidbits about Sedona, her current tribe, and the love they have for this town and the global community.
