Tragic Hong Kong Apartment Fire: Death Toll Rises to 159, Arrests Made for Deactivating Fire AlarmsThe devastating high-rise apartment fire in Hong Kong has claimed the lives of 159 people, with the youngest victim being a one-year-old infant and the oldest a 97-year-old. Authorities have arrested six individuals for deactivating fire alarms during maintenance work, adding to the growing list of suspects in this tragedy.The fire, which occurred at Wang Fuk Court in the Tai Po district, was exacerbated by substandard netting and foam boards on the scaffolding. Search efforts are ongoing, with concerns raised about the functionality of fire alarms in the complex.The initial cause of the fire remains under investigation, and nineteen bodies are still unidentified. The victims include ten migrant domestic helpers, nine from Indonesia and one from the Philippines, as well as one firefighter who lost their life in the blaze.
