After the passing of King Dasharath, Bharat firmly refuses to accept the throne of Ayodhya, declaring that Shri Ram alone is the rightful king. Filled with remorse and pain, he holds himself and his mother Kaikeyi responsible for the tragic turn of events.

Moved by his deep devotion and sense of dharma, Bharat convinces Sage Vashishta and the queens of Ayodhya to accompany him to Chitrakoot, with the sole purpose of requesting Shri Ram to return and rule the kingdom.
