A beautiful conversation with Courtney who has also been a client of mine. She has overcome so much mentally and emotionally and her journey from being an NHS therapist and patient to discovering holistic healing has been a key part to her journey.
About Courtney:
Hey! I’m Courtney. My background is in psychology – I started out working in psychiatric wards six years ago before moving into low-intensity CBT within the NHS, supporting people with mental health difficulties. But alongside working in the field, I’ve also been the ‘patient’, navigating my own mental health journey with medication and therapy since I was about 14.
About 18 months ago, I hit a breaking point. After 10 years on and off antidepressants, I decided to stop taking them. At the same time, I went through a relationship breakdown and completely burned out at work. It forced me to step back and start asking bigger questions: why are we here? Is there more to life than what we see? That turning point led me to take life into my own hands, heal my past, and learn how to regulate my nervous system and emotions. The more I focused on building a healthy relationship with myself, the more life started to open up.
That journey led me to solo travel, new experiences, and the realisation that I don’t have to follow a conventional path – I get to create a life that actually feels right for me. Now, I’m following the nudges of my intuition whilst crafting my dream of using my personal and professional experiences to help others truly live. I’m passionate about blending traditional therapy tools with holistic practices like breathwork, helping people not just survive or exist, but feel at home within themselves and thrive.
