Ian Byrne and Jenni Hicks, a survivor and a victims mother respectively, support the campaign to remove his knighthood. Bettison, who was a chief inspector during the disaster and later received a knighthood, has not commented on the report. Meanwhile, the Public Office Accountability Bill, or Hillsborough Law, is moving through Parliament to prevent future injustices.
