Synopsis:
Detective Jack Finger is back—and this time, the streets are quieter than ever. When the usually unflappable Captain Dunkeld disappears without a trace, Jack is left to navigate an empty precinct, a skeptical rookie, and a trail that leads straight into the heart of the city’s seedy underbelly. From the smoky corners of the Whistling Pigeon speakeasy to a showdown at an abandoned train factory, Jack’s sharp wit and stubborn streak are put to the test. As he tangles with smooth-talking gangsters and faces danger at every turn, Jack is determined to uncover what happened to his captain—even if it means bending a few rules along the way. But as the bullets start to fly and loyalties are tested, one question remains: Can Jack save the day before time—and his luck—runs out? Or is this one case even he can’t crack?
