Silver Chains, Playgrounds, and the Oval: A Celebration of Growing Up in Stuyvesant Town
jwhart

Tucked neatly into the lower east side of Manhattan between 14th and 20th streets and from 1st Avenue to Avenue C, Stuyvesant Town has been home to 30,000 people at any one time since 1948. This special place -- a “city within a city” – provided a unique setting in which to live, especially if you were a kid. This podcast is a forum for sharing recollections of growing up here. The finely manicured lawns, the endless tracts of landscaping and trees, and the playgrounds form the backdrop for your memories of a time and place that, although far removed from now, many of us still refer to as “home.” Take a little time out from your busy adult life and go back to a time and place where lifelong friends and lasting memories were forged. You will even have opportunities to share your own special memories!
