Sinewave Radio 038: RTA (Return To Afrobeats) [Afrobeats]
Out of all of my mixes, my first Afrobeats podcast episode regularly ranks in the top 3 episodes on my podcast, by number of plays - I think because Afrobeats is still a relatively new genre in the here UK and in America, but it's growth has been explosive recently as people discover its fresh sound - A heady mix of crystal clear beats and laid back vocals. It's a completely different smooth sound compared to what gets airtime these days - Not forgetting of course that Africa itself is home to some 1.2 billion people - Many of whom have just started using the internet for the first time. Personally, I find myself listening to Afrobeats a lot whilst working, it's lo-fi and chilled vocal style complements my working style which requires a lot of thinking space and concentration, and afrobeats doesn't overburden the listener by being too heavy or too fast. So on that, I decided to revisit Afrobeats now that we're halfway through 2023 and I've found some great new tracks to share; although it did surprise me that almost all of the tracks are below 3 minutes, so 17 tracks fits into a mere 47 minutes! Mental note for next time I think. Anyway, enjoy the set and I'll catch you on the next episode for which I have a fairly unique idea. Stay safe, Soen Tracklisting: 1. Cheque, Crayon - Sunflawa 2. Lojay, Sarz, Chris Brown - Monalisa 3. Mack H.D, Chuma - SHE BE 4. Zarion Uti, Bolu Ajibade - MY DEAR 5. Mack H.D, Oga Silachi - Isolated 6. Rema - Charm 7. Reekado Banks, Adekunle Gold, Maleek Berry - Feel Different 8. Fireboy DML - YAWA 9. Davido, Fave - KANTE (feat. Fave) 10. Ronis Goliath - Foo7 11. Sikka Musiq - Lie To Me 12. Guchi - Mon Bébé 13. Cloetree - Upstairs 14. Tiwa Savage - Pick Up 15. Burna Boy, Ed Sheeran - For My Hand (feat. Ed Sheeran) 16. Adekunle Gold, Zinoleesky - Party No Dey Stop 17.
