Follow young Finn Ali as he navigates the delightfully odd streets of Widdisham, a hidden corner of London humming with gentle magic and brimming with peculiarities. Finn is on a quest to find his extraordinary lost kitten, Pip, a tiny ball of ginger fluff with a purr like a contented motorboat, and a remarkable talent for getting lost.

Widdisham is no ordinary town. As Finn searches, he encounters its unique inhabitants and features:

  • Chatty Lampposts: Meet Barnaby, the lampost on Kettle Street corner, who offers opinions on the weather and has a slightly nosy disposition.
  • Musical Puddles: Travel down Musical Muse, where water patches shimmer with faint tunes, each ripple playing a musical note like a "tiny watery piano key".
  • Snooty Umbrellas: Finn must speak politely to a huddle of sleek, black umbrellas outside Madame Fifi’s finery, who gossip about the rain and hold their handles high like noses in the air.
  • Sneezer-Prone Post Boxes: He even consults Bartholomew, the town’s main post box in Whispering Square, who suffers terribly from hay fever and general sensitivities, often letting out enormous rattling sneezes that send letters flying.

Finn’s frantic search leads him past humming cobblestones and the quiet settling of the magical town.
