Isaiah 9:6-7
A child is born, a son is given and all authority will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
There are names given to this child that distinguish Him from all others that have come before Him or gone after Him.
Take a few moments and reflect on the names given and identify the hope that He is to us.
Where do you need the son of God to be your wonderful counselor?
What areas of your life do you need him to be mighty God?
How can he play the role of everlasting father in your life?
How can you crown him the prince of peace in your life?
As we close out our time think, about this declaration made from verse 7 of this passage this time from the Message Bible
His ruling authority will grow and there will be no limits to the wholeness He brings
Let’s pray: “Immanuel, Lord Jesus, We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus! Help us to receive and embrace the Hope eternal that only You bring. Emanuel, God with us. Amen”
