When I was a kid, I had this magic mirror toy from The Beauty and the Beast Disney movie. I thought I had positive memories of playing with it but over the weekend, a really interesting memory popped up for me that I had suppressed which inspired this whole episode.

Whatever experience happens inside of us is always reflected outside of us - I am sure you have heard something like this!

So how do we change what is mirrored back to us?

Through my own experience I discovered that we indeed do have a magic mirror that we can use. It’s called metacognition; the ability to literally see yourself as someone else. Then that way you can identify what you need to change or what is holding you back!

Here’s the other important thing to note, you cannot access this state while you are stressed out! There is no blood flow to the frontal lobe which is where metacognition takes place. The blood flow is hanging out in the back of your brain where the areas for fear, emotional processing and long term memory are; also known as survival mode.

This process is challenging and requires a lot of energy/capacity and is not for the faint of heart! I’m recognizing my own need to fully surrender to this process which means I cannot show up for the same amount of episodes per week anymore. 

So I will be returning to Monday episodes only for now and eventually I cannot wait for you to meet the amazing people who have been a part of my life in future interview episodes!
