1. Choose nursery with knowledgeable staff. They must be aware of various varieties, grafting methods and basically plant lovers. Because saplings are like small kids and need utmost care. If the staff are business minded, then their focus on plant care will be less.

3. Make sure nursery has a choice of plants of desirable height? Do Not buy saplings over 3 feet.
