This story is by the Danish author Hans Christian Anderson. His most recognizable work is perhaps “The Little Mermaid.” Anderson’s work laid the foundation for many children’s classics including The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame and Winnie-the-pooh by A.A.
