Story Of The World- A Simple History For Boys And Girls

Dear Doris, while I cant recount every single event in history, Ive made it my mission to share the most significant moments from the very dawn of time, long before humans walked the Earth, to our remarkable present. In these stories, youll meet some of the greatest men and women who shaped history, and I hope that through their tales, youll gain a richer understanding of the times they lived in and the lives of everyday people. The illustrations youll find in the book are unique; they are not modern interpretations but rather reproductions of the actual art, statues, and architecture created by the people of those times. When you read about the Egyptians, youll see a pyramid as envisioned by them 6,000 years ago. When exploring Greek history, youll encounter statues crafted by renowned Greek artists. The Middle Ages come alive through beautiful stained glass windows and intricate manuscripts. While some drawings may appear unusual to you, they provide a fascinating glimpse into the past that is far more authentic than contemporary illustrations. Just as the pictures are true, so too are the stories I share. There are many tales often told as history that are, in fact, not accurate; my hope is that youll enjoy the true stories Ive chosen instead. After all, history should always be rooted in truth. With all my love, I dedicate this book to you. - Summary by Elizabeth ONeill
