What Apple Intelligence Features are Now Available

Get Apple Intelligence on the latest Apple devices: https://amzn.to/4feEBgE

Big changes are coming to many Apple devices, as Apple rolls out its highly anticipated iOS 18.1 update, bringing the first official AI support to iPhone 15 Pro models, all iPhone 16 models, most iPads, and Macs with any M-series chip. The update introduces Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI-powered features that enhances the iOS experience. Here’s what to expect.

Apple is adding new AI-based Writing Tools to help users rewrite, proofread, and summarize text across various apps. These tools aim to make emails more professional, correct grammar, and even condense lengthy drafts into bulleted lists.

Siri is getting a makeover with a new interface and enhanced capabilities. Now, users can type their requests, and the digital assistant is better at understanding natural language. Siri can handle more complex tasks by leveraging cloud processing, all while maintaining user privacy. It will also be able to offer tech support for Apple devices.

Similar to Gmail's feature, Smart Reply will provide contextual response suggestions when texting or emailing. This addition should make it easier to send quick replies, though it may not be ideal for more complex conversations.

For the first time, iPhones will support call recording, and it’s more inclusive than expected. Initially set for the iPhone 15 Pro and above, it’s also appearing on older models like the iPhone XS. Users can record calls, notify participants, and save audio files. The iPhone 15 Pro series will even allow live transcriptions and summaries through Voice Recording in the Notes app.

iOS 18.1 introduces smarter notification summaries that group related alerts and present key information at a glance. For example, you might see a single notification summarizing your bill payments, receipts, and confirmations, saving you the hassle of scrolling through multiple alerts.

The Photos app will use AI to remove unwanted objects from images, search using natural language, and create custom collages or “Memory movies” based on user descriptions.

Even iPhone models that don’t support Apple Intelligence will see updates. iOS 18.1 offers a reset option for the customizable Control Center, improved connectivity tiles, and drag-and-drop capabilities when mirroring to a Mac. Plus, users now have greater NFC access for transit cards and hotel room keys. iPhone 16 models will also see a new Camera Control button to quickly switch to selfie mode.

This update is just the beginning. Future features will include tools like Image Playground for generating images, expanded ChatGPT integration, and Visual Intelligence, which will offer useful insights about your surroundings. For now, Apple Intelligence is only available in U.S. English, with no release date yet for the EU or China.
