Tesla is barred from using the coil due to a court order, and Selene is kidnapped by malevolent supernatural forces aligned with the Nazis. Desperate to save her, Tesla strikes a deal with the demons who originally fixed the coil. The demons demand the team's souls as collateral, along with a share of the profits from the coil's future use. In return, they offer to redesign the coil, lift the legal constraints preventing Tesla from operating it, and pledge their assistance in rescuing Selene.
