“Here’s My Card” Ptowngirl229 (USA)

──What inspired you to create this film for GIFF 2025?

I've been thinking about a possible GIFF submission for a few years and had some ideas, but then when I saw the theme of "Thanks for the community" I immediately had the idea of, what else could TFTC stand for? At first I had big aspirations but eventually came up with a version that I could actually pull off.

──How many people worked on your film, and how long did the production take?

Three people were involved in the film. My partner (life partner and geocaching partner) did almost all the filming except for the opening scene which he was in, I got one of my friends (a non-geocacher) to come over to film that bit. Our kid Corbin who was 9 months at the time, and who we refer to as "Tiny Cacher" (a reference to Elton John's Tiny Dancer as he was almost named Elton) was present for all filming. Filming took place from 7/27/25-7/30/25 and I edited the video over a couple days - the filming and editing was a last minute affair. We also took 7/28 off from filming because we were celebrating my birthday that day!

──What was the most memorable or challenging part of making your film?

Almost every shot was done in one take because it was extremely hot during the outdoor scenes (if you know where to look you can see sweat that has dripped onto my jeans between scenes) and because our kid was with us we had to be efficient. The one scene we had many takes on was the opening scene where there is talking. We did a million takes (and actually ended up using the very first take) but it was a lot of fun and there were a lot of outtakes. My friend who was helping us film that scene was trying to direct us because we were out of control laughing most of the time. There were also a lot more scenes of food that start with "C" that ended up getting cut from the film and we spent the next couple weeks eating all that food - food that didn't make the cut included corn, carrots, celery, and a cucumber so we were eating A LOT of vegetables.

──Is there a moment in your film that you hope geocachers around the world will notice or appreciate?

I was hoping that people got the "Thanks for all the fish" reference. When the theme was first announced we were in the process of reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy in five parts as a family and I had the idea to make a reference to it from the beginning. In that scene, all of the things on the plate actually start with "C" (cod, chips, and coleslaw) but I had Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on the brain and I thought it was really funny. It didn't get a chuckle at the screening that I hosted but I do hope some people appreciate the reference.
