Record-Breaking AFCON & Double Jollof Derby!

The Africa Football Showdown Episode 5, Season 2

Daniel Dadzie in London and Peter Okwoche in Abuja. Discuss the recent clashes between Ghana and Nigeria in the women's final of the All Africa Games and the Mens teams friendly in Morocco. New Nigeria coach Finidi George showcased a new formation and Peter loved it.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) generated a record 2.2 billion viewers worldwide, indicating the growing popularity of African football. Factors contributing to this success include the quality of football played and the popularity of Afrobeat music. The success of the AFCON should be used as an opportunity to plow revenue back into African football and support the development of the game across the continent, including smaller countries.

There is a need for investment in local leagues and academies to develop African talent and retain players on the continent. This will require better infrastructure, marketing, and revenue structures.

That's all on The Africa Football Showdown Podcast the home of African Football.
