🎙️🌎 The BMS Podcast #17 with Dr Raymond Perrin, DO (UK), PhD , Osteopath, Neuroscientist and Specialist in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS).
🎓 Ray qualified in 1984 from the British School of Osteopathy in London. Ray’s research since 1989 into ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome has expanded our knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of complex neurological disease. In July 2005 he was awarded a doctorate by the university of Salford, UK for his thesis on the involvement of cerebrospinal fluid and lymphatic drainage in ME/CFS. Since 2007 he has held the academic post of Honorary Senior lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire, UK and is also honorary clinical research fellow at in the faculty of Biology Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester.
🎯 In this episode, Dr. Raymond Perrin, a leading osteopath and researcher, shares his groundbreaking insights into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and the development of The Perrin Technique™. Raymond’s work has redefined our understanding of brain and body interaction by demonstrating the critical role of lymphatic and cerebrospinal fluid drainage in brain health. His early hypotheses—once considered controversial—have been validated by discoveries such as the glymphatic system and lymphatic vessels within the brain, reshaping medical perspectives. Drawing on decades of clinical experience, Raymond highlights the importance of observation and palpation in diagnosing CFS. His manual therapy approach targets lymphatic flow, addressing toxin buildup and improving the function of the sympathetic nervous system, offering a transformative pathway for CFS management. Raymond also advocates for the preventative potential of osteopathic care, emphasizing early detection and correction of lymphatic and cranial rhythm disturbances to mitigate CFS risk. Through his global training programs, he empowers practitioners to implement The Perrin Technique™, blending evidence-based practice with osteopathic principles. This episode challenges healthcare professionals to think critically and embrace cutting-edge approaches, pushing the boundaries of conventional osteopathic care to enhance patient outcomes and advance the field.
