Reducing Back Pain with a Dental Device

Newly published research shows how a simple dental device called the "Aqualizer" can help reduce back and other pain for participants by balancing out pelvis asymmetry, which causes leg length discrepancy, and reducing any occlusal (bite) interferences when it is in use.

In this episode, Dr. Jenny Hobson reviews the "Aqualizer" study she conducted with Bill Esser, PT, which was published in the peer reviewed Journal of Craniomandibular & Sleep Practice.   Co-hosted with Dr. Martha Cortes, they discuss the design of study with Bill Esser and Ira Shapira, DDS and how it’s ground breaking results will lead to even more important research for the PT and Dental fields to collaborate on.

Dr. Shapira said, "Dr. Hobson’s pilot study should lead to far more extensive studies to connect craniomandibular function to whole body posture and reduction in medical expenses."  Discover what research DCreators & Guests

r. Jenny and Bill Esser also share what research designs they are working on around the connection of the occlusion/bite and how it effects the rest of the body.

Learn from Dr. Ira Shapira, TMD and Sleep apnea expert and the two TMJ head and neck physical therapy experts how this device can help you balance out your pelvis asymmetry causing leg length discrepancy and reduce any occlusal (bite) interferences when it is in use.  Dr. Hobson and Bill Esser, PT are designing more research around the connection of the occlusion/bite and how it effects the rest of the body.

Bill Esser, PT is CranioFacial physical therapist in southern Oregon, one of less than 100 in the USA with the distinction Certified Cervical Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT).  He has 40 years of experience and success in treatment TMJ disorders, complex cranio and cervical spine dysfunction.  He is an instructor for PTs and Dentists on the evaluation and treatment of TMJ and a speaker in many dental conferences including OBI Foundations of Bioesthetics National Conference and more.
