029. The 4 Trauma Responses to Burnout

Episode 29: Burnout can have such a profound impact on your system that it can trigger your survival instincts (also known as trauma responses or stress responses).  Your nervous system developed these coping mechanisms to help you deal with a real or perceived threat so you can get to a place of safety.  Although the trauma responses--fight, flight, freeze and fawn--may be necessary and healthy at times, these responses may also show up as a maladaptive strategy in times of stress and create more problems long-term.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • What are the 4 trauma/stress responses
  • How each of these responses manifests when you're burned out
  • Where your default trauma response(s) comes from
  • 3 steps to process a stress response in real time

To learn more about how coaching can help you understand the thoughts that may be triggering these trauma responses and do the body work to release it on a deeper level, visit my website www.theembodiedmd.com.
