Although the start of the season wasn't exactly what Kaizer Chiefs were looking for, they have picked up 9 points from their last 5 games, and they’re sitting in second place on the log, only behind a dominant Mamelodi Sundowns. Picking up a vital win [and bragging rights] against Orlando Pirates (before the International break), PSL fans were wary of the fact that Amakhosi could lose momentum upon the return of the league. However, that was not the case; picking up wins against Maritzburg United and Swallows FC. It cannot go unnoticed that Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly have been the driving force behind Chiefs’ seasonal turnaround, with the duo linking up the midfield to the attack. Speaking on the SL Podcast, former Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana star Teko Modise says that ‘Chief’s season cannot be based on that victory.’ In another turn of events, Kaizer Chiefs are looking to bolster their midfield by signing former Rangers FC and current Amiens FC midfielder Bongani Zungu. Zungu represented Mamelodi Sundowns during the years 2013-2016, where he made 58 appearances. Chiefs fans will be licking their lips to get Zungu’s signature, but former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town goalie Sean Roberts is scratching his head. Roberts says “You’re in Europe, you’ve done all the hard work to get there, why on earth would you come back?”
On the latest episode of The Carwash” former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town goalie Sean Roberts and former Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana star Teko Modise discuss the recent interest Kaizer Chiefs have expressed towards Bongani Zungu. The crew also react to the departure of Brandon Truter and co from Swallows FC. Later in the show, Soccer Laduma international news correspondent Kurt Buckerfiled joins the show to talk about the 2021 Ballon d’Or ceremony, which saw Lionel Messi win a record 7th golden ball. Kurt also breaks down the interim coach that Manchester United have signed.
