Hometown Hero – Poker Face Podcast Episode 15

The fifteenth episode of Poker Face was titled Hometown Hero and was the fifth episode of the show’s second season. Charlie gets a job at a minor league baseball team and stumbles onto a match fixing scandal. In this podcast Gerry and Iain look at America’s game.

This week, Charlie finds herself employed at a minor league baseball team owned by Lucille Lubinski (Carol Kane), a descendant of the team’s founder Hiram Lubinski (BJ Novak). When a match fixing scandal threatens to backfire, former top prospect Russ Waddell (Simon Rex), now a washed-up never-was, accidentally kills youngster Felix Domingo (Brandon Perea).

Russ’ teammates, Lew (Noah Segan), Goose (Ruffin Prentiss), Carl (Jacob Lynn) and Hunter (Anthony Carvello) revel in the success of their betting scheme, but when Charlie gets involved the whole thing threatens to collapse. Gil Birmingham (Skip Dooley) and Ego Nwodim (Gilda Deacon) also star.

This episode was directed by John Dahl. The writing credit goes to Tony Tost, who is also a producer on this season of the show.
