Ep. 116: Greg Overton - Joe Rogan's Favorite Painter
Greg Overton's oil paintings have been praised for their ability to tell a story, evoke primal feelings, and remind us of the importance of connection and balance. The core of his work is his portraits of Native Americans that are powerful and seem to convey souls of the subjects. Overton's fascination with the American West began at a young age. He still holds onto Western pieces he drew and painted starting at about age eight. He always wanted to be an artist and though his youth was wrought with struggles including substance abuse and even homelessness he held onto his dream. Overton began studying and painting it in earnest after apprenticing as a tattoo artist and airbrushing haunted houses to make ends meet. Over time, he honed his craft and eventually caught the attention of some of the most prestigious galleries. Greg is a master of capturing the essence and soul of Native Americans through his oil paintings. His work speaks to the power of connection, the importance of balance, and the richness of the human experience. His portraits are a reminder of the beauty and complexity of Native American culture, and an invitation to explore the depths of the human soul.
