One of the things I love about this chapter is that Paul just got on with his mission. He'd received a revelation of Jesus Christ, was called by God to preach the good news of Jesus Christ and then just got on with it! No consultation, no approval process - no messing. There was an urgency and importance for Paul to preach the good news of Jesus Christ. Perhaps this urgency was part of his zealous nature, perhaps it was because of the very real persecution of the church and return of Jesus. Or perhaps, and this is what I like to think, that Paul's encounter with Jesus Christ that day turned his world upside down inside out that he could only do one thing with the rest of his life and that was to preach the good news of Jesus Christ to everybody, everywhere.
That's a challenge for us a Church. Little threat of persecution in some places and perhaps we have grown to comfortable with our church services and programmes that we have lost the urgency and importance of preaching the good news of Jesus Christ to everybody, everywhere. Maybe we, like Paul need our lives shaking up again - so that we too will risk everything for the sake of the Gospel...
