This is a series of recorded conversations to continue to build community and cohesion within the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. Sharing knowledge about different components of the Department, the faculty and students within and the broader academic life.
This episode will focus on Dr. Todd Anderson, Vice-Dean in the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM). This year faculty members received a mass email outlining that all academic staff would receive a definitive merit assessment this year, a different process than past assessment cycles. For some, this was surprise so as Vice-Dean, Todd was invited to share how that decision was made. This conversation will touch on who was involved in the conversation (TUFCA and Dr. Marshall on behalf of the Board of Governors – underscore that this wasn’t CSM or Department Head decision), and it will also touch on inequities identified due to COVID and the need for a compassionate response.
