
If you’ve ever had a pint at Lot 10 Brewing Company or sushi from Royal Sushi, you have visited the site of the former British North American Hotel. As we walk through the Doors of Heritage for this episode we will learn the history of the British North American Hotel, hotel owner George Bullock and we’ll speak with the current business owner from Lot 10 Brewing Company.
For this episode, local historians Robert Honor and Stephanie Pouget Papak, will provide an overview of the British North American Hotel. Robert is a native of Amherstburg and retired from Parks Canada at Fort Malden National Historic Site of Canada. His Interests are fine arts, architecture, and heritage. Robert is an artist, member of Amherstburg Heritage Committee, Belle Vue Conservancy and Architectural Conservancy of Ontario. Stephanie is a historian who studied History and Education at the University of Windsor. Her current research examines culinary history, local History, and history of sexuality. She works in museum curation and is a member of two historical committees. We are also honoured to have the current tenants of this building, Brian Fowkes from Lot 10 Brewing Company.
Lot 10 Brewing Company is a family-owned and operated Micro Brewery located in Downtown Amherstburg. In September of 2018, they took over the lease of the property and began extensive renovations as the space was previously a retail store (St. Vincent Society ).
