Harvard Campus Update: Reading Period, Symposia, Investment Conference, Basketball Triumph, Holiday Fair & More (Dec 1-8)
Hey Harvard University students, it's Jenny with your Campus Update for December 1 through December 8. Let's get you set for the week—fast. First up—Reading Period kicks off this Thursday, December 4, and runs through Tuesday, December 9. It's your dedicated time to prepare for finals, so plan your study schedule accordingly. Next, the Harvard Alumni Association is hosting the 45th annual Saturday of Symposia on December 6. This event features Harvard faculty discussing research across various fields. It's a great opportunity to broaden your horizons. Registration is required. Finally, the Harvard Business School's Investment Club is holding its annual Investment Conference on Sunday, December 7, at Klarman Hall. Whether you're pursuing a career in investing or just curious, this conference offers valuable insights. Over the weekend, the Harvard women's basketball team clinched the Ivy League title at the 2025 Ivy League Women's Basketball Tournament, held at Brown University's Pizzitola Sports Center. The team secured their first title under Coach Carrie Moore, with standout player Harmoni Turner earning MVP honors. Looking ahead, the team is preparing for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology is hosting the "Castaway: The Afterlife of Plastic" exhibition daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This thought-provoking exhibit explores the impact of plastic waste on our environment. It's a must-see for anyone interested in sustainability. In dining news, the Harvard Square Holiday Fair is happening this week. It's a perfect spot to grab unique gifts and enjoy some festive treats. Don't miss out on the seasonal goodies! This week in Cambridge, expect a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures ranging from the mid-20s to low 40s Fahrenheit. Notably, Tuesday, December 2, brings a chance of snow beginning in the late morning, which could make roads and sidewalks slippery. Plan your commute accordingly. Your move: Register for the Saturday of Symposia by Friday to secure your spot. It's a unique chance to engage with faculty and fellow students on diverse topics. That's your quick Campus Update. I'm Jenny—catch you next Monday morning. Tap follow on your podcast app so you never miss a beat.
