
Dr. Cosmas Maduka (born December 24, 1958, in Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian businessman and founder of the Coscharis Group, a diversified conglomerate known for automobile sales, agriculture, manufacturing, and ICT.
He lost his father at age 4, dropped out of school, and started hawking akara to support his family. Later apprenticed in a motor parts business, he was dismissed with ₦200 which he used in 1977 to start Coscharis Motors. The company grew rapidly, gaining government import licenses in 1982 and eventually becoming an authorized dealer for brands like BMW, Ford, and Jaguar/Land Rover.
Maduka has served on several corporate boards, including Access Bank Plc, and was honored as Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2012. He also studied at Harvard Business School’s Executive Program and holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He was married to Charity Maduka (now late) and is widely respected for his integrity, resilience, and message that “your background does not determine your destiny.”
