Method Acting: Balancing Immersion and Impact through Psychology

This episode of The Inner World of Filmmaking dives into the psychology behind Method Acting with guest Dr. Michelle Carcel who delves into the intricacies of method acting and its psychological impact on actors. The discussion highlights various acting techniques, including those pioneered by Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner, and Lee Strasberg, each offering a unique approach to character development. The conversation emphasizes the role of empathy and personal experience in method acting, as well as the potential psychological risks, such as trauma and identity loss, actors face when deeply immersing themselves in a role. The importance of mental health support, coping strategies, and therapy is underscored, particularly for actors undertaking intense and emotionally demanding characters.
