Alas, while this Chinese sci-fi fantasy thriller drama delivers beautiful visuals, it lacks narrative focus and energy. Besides an exciting intro early on, it sets itself adrift on a long road to nowhere. Let’s talk about the baffling character logic, the oddly likable villains, and the utterly pointless scenes.
