Ep 73 - Brett Devloo And Hippie Mike On Building a Community That Believes in You

Today’s guest is someone whose life rewrites what’s possible.

Brett Devloo, also known as “TBK – The Blind Kid,” is a visually impaired musician, songwriter, professional skater, and motivational speaker from Aldergrove, BC. His story isn’t just about adapting — it’s about refusing to let limitations define your life. Brett has built a career in music and in skateboarding through presence, heart, and relentless forward motion. His journey is now the focus of the upcoming documentary “Blind Corners,” a film that captures what it means to keep going, even when the world tries to tell you who you can or can’t be.

Joining him in this conversation is Hippie Mike - a lifelong skateboarder, builder of community, owner of HMI Skate Park in Hope, BC, and mentor to generations of skaters, including Andy Anderson. Mike has dedicated years to teaching, coaching, creating safe spaces, and helping people find belonging through skateboarding.

This episode is about creativity, identity, and the power of environment and community.
It’s about finding your line, even when the path isn’t clear.
It’s about choosing hope, choosing movement, and choosing to keep showing up.
