Looking at the RWS through the lens of history, each episode focusing on one card at at time. Looking at the historical influences for the tarot from the 14th Century to today. But in a podcast format, as well as a companion video of our podcast being made to be posted on YouTube. We'll also have footnotes and pictures in the show notes so you can actually see what we will be discussing. Do you live in the Washington DC area? Well, we’re looking forward to recording in front of a live audience this time. We loved doing “The Two of Wands” walk through the tarot, but now we want to take the show on the road. So let us know if you would like to host. What is this? This will mainly be a 1 hour podcast with a video companion. We want to do this as a podcast because we want to offer you an opportunity to join us once a week as we journey through tarot - Again. What you can expect: The Rider Waite Smith (RWS) meanings Today - What do today's books say? Giving the keywords and information first means this can be an easy reference without needing to listen to the entire episode. Tarot Beginnings - Where did the art for these cards come from? We’ll look at the original art and history of Italy and how many symbols on the cards were commonplace and well understood at the time. The Esoteric Tarot - Looking for de Gelbin, Levi and others from the 18th century and beyond. How it was tied to Kabbalah, astrology, and other correspondences. The Rider Waite Smith Tarot - We’ll be looking at the creators of the RWS tarot, Arthur E. Waite, and Pamala Coleman Smith. Taking a look at their memberships in the Golden Dawn and how that, and their Christian beliefs, came to influence tarot's design.
