This is not a coffee podcast, at least not in the traditional sense, but in this show, we explore the lives and passions of people from all walks of life around the world who have nailed their niche, and how they integrate the love of coffee into their lifestyle. The Nomad Barista started as a project to uncover the stories, inspirations, and challenges of passionate coffee professionals all over the globe, and I'm now expanding from the blog and Youtube channel to share conversations through long-form podcast content!

011 Gabriel Navarro – Coffee Consultant: Advice for Café Owners, Toronto Coffee Scene, Influence on Soho House, and Learning from Mexico

Gabriel Navarro is a Toronto-based coffee consultant, and long-time friend of mine since my Toronto coffee days. He started his coffee career in Canada, working as a barista all over Toronto, and later consulting coffee businesses around the world including Soho House, Sorry Coffee, Tokyo Smoke, Tim Hortons, and even opening his chain of coffee shops in Toronto, Nava Social.

We chat about what it means to be a coffee consultant in its different forms, the most important things to pay attention to when opening a café, and how to position yourself for success as a coffee professional, even from very early days in your career, and a range of other topics.

Brought to you by Wacaco, a brand of portable espresso makers that are completely hand-powered. I use their gear, including coffee brewers, hand grinders and scales on all my coffee adventures.
