Day 294 of the One Year Audio Bible Podcast. We get a dive into prophecies about nations other than Israel. Chapter 46 is all about Egypt. Jeremiah predicts Egypt's defeat by Babylon at the battle of Carchemish and further invasions that'll hit Egypt. Despite their mighty army, Egypt's gonna have a tough time. Chapter 47 pivots to the Philistines, especially their main city, Gaza. The prophecy here? A flood of invaders (Babylon) will come from the north, causing widespread destruction. In 1 Timothy 6:3-21, Paul drops some wisdom about the dangers of loving money. He starts by calling out anyone teaching false doctrines and then dives into the classic line, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." He warns that this desire has led many away from the faith. But Timothy? He's told to flee from these things and fight the good fight of faith. Paul urges him to keep the commands without spot or blame until Jesus returns. The chapter ends with instructions for the rich to be generous and for Timothy to guard the faith, avoiding godless chatter.
