Bladders, Bowels, and Bedroom Talk: What’s Actually Normal? with Aleece Fosnight

057: Let’s talk pee, poop, and pleasure. In this episode, sexual and urological health expert and board-certified physician assistant Aleece Fosnight shares what’s actually normal down there—and why your bladder, bowels, and sex life are more connected than you think!

Feeling the Pulse On

  • Aleece’s journey getting into PA school, sexual medicine and urology and the patients she works with
  • The ties to bladder, bowel, and sexual health that you may not know about
  • Different kinds of bladder issues/incontinence aka unintentional leaking (stress, urge/overactive, mixed, overflow, and functional)
  • The problem with normalizing leaking, being constipated, going just in case, rushing the process of going to the bathroom
  • What should a full bladder actually look like (how much can you hold?) What does it look like to empty “fully”?
  • How often should you go to the bathroom to pee?
  • How often should you have bowel movements?
  • On the flip side, how long is too long to wait between bathroom breaks? What about scrolling while going? (Nurses, teachers, on-site workers - this one is for you!)
  • Different sexual issues people experience around the pelvic floor/area
  • Aleece’s vision for teaching other practitioners + providers in person and online
  • Advice from Aleece on seeing a pelvic PT DURING pregnancy, speaking to your provider, and more
