We are often told that Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) are the heart, soul, spirit, hope and future of our economy when the rubber hits the road however the true priorities of the powerful are unveiled.   Small business owners know that they stand alone without much meaningful support. Fortunately the entrepreneurial spirit is not so easily damped.  Through partnership and creativity new possibilities are unearthed and adversity is transformed into opportunity. A container, scrap metal and wood off cuts birth a livelihood for family and the community.   We will be in conversation with Tumelo, co-owner of Maplankeng, about the emergence of the township economy.  The perspective altering potential that growing up around a family run business had on him.  The radical transformation that strong local businesses can bring to an area alongside the challenges, risks, possibilities and opportunities for business in Soweto.
