on songwriting, psychology, real estate & life after retirement
And really, we’re talking about
~ living the creative process
~ creating emotional and financial stability as a highly sensitive and creative person
with one of my great mentors
who is my auntie.
:: My aunt spent her working life as a psychologist, but she didn’t work full time. She also made time for writing and other things she loved because she always said she never needed as much money as all that. (But then she ended up getting that money anyway, by investing in real estate on the side - which she talks about on the show.)
I have learned SO MUCH from my aunt over the years. She is the person who has held my hand through any sort of challenge and initiation regarding self-employment, money in all its complexities, navigating the extreme ups and downs of the creative process, and especially helped me learn emotional regulation as I was coming out of my tumultuous teenage years.
I am constantly referencing stories she has told me and lessons I have learned from her, and I knew as soon as I started a podcast that I wanted her to be a guest on it.
In the episode, I am including a recording she shared with me of her singing her new song which is meant for singing in circles and in ritual. It’s so beautiful!
