Austin Smith represented South Africa in hockey on 183 occasions. At the  tender age of 18, Austin received his first call up to the national  side and from there, he built up a career that is going to be hard to  forget.

Since 2009, Austin also represented Den Bosch in the Netherlands as his hockey club and was able to change many perceptions about the abilities and potential of South African hockey players.

We touch on what is keeping him busy besides hockey, what South Africa needs to focus on immediately and who has had an influence on his career.
