Sophie Rogowska was born in Warsaw, Poland and grew up in Ottawa, Canada. She is currently based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Sophie took up photography during the COVID-19 lockdowns with a borrowed camera and a library book. Reflecting its pandemic origins, her work is centered around moments of human connection, togetherness and joy. Sophie has done projects in Eastern Europe, Central and South America and was rewarded with an honourable mention in the 2023 Paris International Street Photo Awards for her series on the "Day of the Dead" celebrations in Mexico City.
