May 26 2025, a day of triumph and euphoria transformed into one of horror and devastation. Thousands of Liverpool FC fans from across the globe had descended on the city to celebrate the team’s historic 20th Premier League title win.
Shortly after 6pm, crowds who’d gathered earlier for the open-top bus parade were left stunned after a Ford Galaxy ploughed into them, injuring over 100 people. The youngest victim was six months old.
The man allegedly behind the wheel, Paul Doyle, 53, is now on trial. A former Royal Marine, Doyle faces 31 charges, including 9 of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He denies all charges against him.
