#12 'Pursuing financial independence' | Sébastien Aguilar

Our guest lecturer this month is the inspiring Sébastien Aguilar. Sébastien is 35 years old, a young father, a husband, a son, a community builder, and… financially independent. Always driven by impact, he built a career in the field of sustainability, as a manager and senior consultant in energy management and climate change migration. However, after a financial wake-up call, Sébastien decided to learn how to invest, and in seven years he went from broke to financially independent – quitting his job in the process. We spoke to Sébastien about his journey, and about how financial independence and managing your money are simply tools for living a more fulfilling life and ultimately helping others. He teaches us about index investing and gives lots of practical tips to get started, including the 4% rule of thumb that helps you estimate how much money you need if you want to be financially independent. Most importantly, we learn how the greatest gift of improving your financial situation is 'more time'; more time with your family and friends, more time to follow your passion, and more time for creating a greater impact in your community.
