Celaena has just won the tournament and has become the King’s Assassin. The book begins with her following orders and on the prowl to kill. When she returns to the castle she is instructed to killer Archer, a man she was friends with in the past, who may be hiding more than she initially believes. She begins to investigates Archer's ties to a rebel group and continues to investigate the trades wards and other magic she came across in the first book. She fights her feelings for Dorian, gets a little saucey with Chaol, and becomes closer with Nehimia. As this story unfolds we learn of rebelings, witches, romance, friendship, betrayal and a big fat reveal at the end of the book.
