(Part One): Kelly Welch shares her incredible story. In 2016, Kelly found herself lost, disconnected, addicted to crystal meth, and eventually, incarcerated. Kelly has mixed ancestry (Anishinaabe, Irish, British, & German). Kelly's grandmother was in a residential school, along with generations prior. Like so many other indigenous families, this is where disconnection from culture and intergenerational trauma was inflicted.
Kelly's lawyer connected her to the The healing of the seven generations; a non-profit organization that supports individuals affected by intergenerational trauma from the residential school system, or those whom face barriers when trying to access the supports they need on their healing journey. Kelly became greatly involved with The healing of the seven generations and embarked on a new healing journey.
Kelly speaks about the first time she heard the drum, how her spirit started dancing, and something woke up inside of her. Kelly is going on 5 years sober, and is on a continual journey of searching for guidance, practicing, teaching, and sharing her perspective & experiences.
I know you are going to be moved by this episode, enjoy!
