In which Bethanie, Lindsey, and Samantha discuss Chapter 8 of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.

Chapter 8 Summary: “Port Angeles”

In Port Angeles, Bella helps Jessica and Angela shop for dance dresses. The girls tease Bella about her lack of dating experience, mentioning Tyler thinks he’s taking her to prom—news that irritates her.

Later, while the others go to the bay, Bella looks for a bookstore, gets lost, and is cornered by four threatening men. Just as they close in, Edward suddenly appears and rescues her, furious. He drives her away to calm down, then takes her to meet her friends, who’ve already eaten. He convinces them to let him take Bella home and stays for dinner with her.

At the restaurant, Edward is protective and intense. Bella feels safe with him, even after the scare. He reveals he followed her to Port Angeles to keep her safe and admits he can’t read her mind—unlike everyone else’s. He tracked her through Jessica’s thoughts and found her just in time. His anger stems from how close he came to killing the men who threatened her.
